Position
Join the NEW WEST GROUP of Companies team as a full-time Parts Technician Supervisor, where your expertise in parts sales, inventory control, purchasing, and record-keeping will be essential to our operations. You will oversee and coordinate all purchasing responsibilities, working closely with the apprentice parts technician, ensuring communication with vendors and maintaining an accurate and up-to-date purchase order system.

Responsibilities
As a Parts Technician Supervisor on our team, you will:
- Supervise and assist the apprentice parts technician in the daily operation of the parts department
- Work with the apprentice parts technician to fulfill all orders accurately and on time, both internally and externally, including all supplies required for day-to-day operations
- Quote, source, and sell parts to external customers
- Ensure timely closing of all purchase orders, and routinely follow up on outstanding orders, tracking and updating their status
- Source new suppliers when necessary, assessing their reliability and the quality of their products
- Negotiate pricing and terms of procurement with current suppliers
- Utilize inventory management software to maintain and regulate parts warehouse inventory, assigning costs to all incoming and outgoing inventory
- Implement new parts department procedures and maintain current ones
- Ensure that inventory records in the parts warehouse are kept accurate and up to date
- Regulate parts ordering volume and implement parts ordering procedures as required
- Receive additions to the rental fleet and ensure that equipment inventory records are updated accordingly
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 5-year experience in a similar role and industry preferred
- Red Seal Certified Journeyman Parts Technician
- Technical Experience: Extensive experience working in parts departments and using inventory management systems, point-of-sale software, and tools such as Excel and Access to support daily operations.
- Inventory Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of inventory management and purchase order software. Capable of issuing, receiving, and returning parts, managing stock levels, and assigning parts to work orders for both internal and customer-owned equipment. Experience in issuing and closing purchase orders.
- Microsoft Office 365 Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 programs, including Excel, Word, and Access.
- Inventory Control: Demonstrated experience managing parts warehouse stock, including assigning bin locations and maintaining accurate inventory records. Proficient in costing parts for downed equipment or for use in both billable and non-billable service and maintenance of fleet equipment. Strong knowledge of conducting cycle and inventory counts to ensure stock accuracy.
- Parts Ordering: Skilled in sourcing, identifying, and procuring parts for equipment under repair, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and track orders efficiently.
- Inventory Management: Expertise in monitoring stock levels and ensuring timely restocking to prevent stockouts. Adept at maintaining an organized parts warehouse to support smooth operations.
- Processing Customer Orders: Experience coordinating all aspects of customer orders, from quoting and selling to shipping parts, ensuring seamless and timely processing.Previous experience in labour-intensive roles such as landscaping, or concrete preparation experience
- Customer Service: Extensive experience engaging with both internal (shop and operations staff) and external customers (parts and service clients) with a focus on providing excellent customer service. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference given to candidates with experience as parts technician in the construction equipment rental industry
