As an Account Executive , you will sell freight brokerage services, arranging B2B transportation of goods across
North America, primarily to Shipping Managers and Business Owners at companies shipping skids of product. You will own the full sales cycle from prospecting through quoting, booking, and tracing. In Year 1 this role is approximately 90% new business development and 10% account management, shifting toward a roughly even split as your book grows. Leads are almost entirely self-generated through your own prospecting, with a limited number of warm leads supplied from past employees. Your territory spans North America, including local (Greater Toronto Area), regional (Ontario), and national (Canada) markets, plus select U.S. business, and is not geographically assigned. This is a newly added growth position reporting to the Managing Partner. The base salary is $60,000 – $70,000 CAD.

THE COMPANY & CULTURE
Our client was founded in approximately 2013 and is a privately owned partnership in a steady growth stage, expanding
approximately 5%–30% year over year since inception. They employ 8 people total, including a 6-person sales team
and 1 sales manager. Headquartered in North York, Ontario (Toronto), with additional training space in Milton,
Ontario, they are a freight brokerage arranging B2B transportation of goods across North America, matching
shippers with vetted carriers from a network of approximately 4,000 carriers. Clients span food manufacturing,
construction, machinery, and general product-shipping industries, generally businesses shipping skids of product. The culture is casual (t-shirts and jeans), flexible, and independent, with sales-driven bonuses for hitting
targets and strong long-term employee retention.

EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Solid B2B sales background — the client is flexible on years of experience, from early-stage to mid-level
candidates
- Phone-based cold calling, prospecting, and lead generation experience — a genuine hunter who can build a
territory from scratch
- Logistics, freight, or trucking industry experience is not required; strong candidates from adjacent
industries (manufacturers, companies that ship product, or trucking-adjacent businesses) are encouraged to
apply
- Post-secondary education not required; a business degree is an asset but not a factor
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation required (for training and occasional office days)

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel

- Service spans local, regional, national, and select U.S. freight movement
PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS / INDUSTRY FOCUS / DECISION MAKER(S)
B2B shippers across food manufacturing, construction, machinery, and general product industries
- Customers range from a single annual shipment to high-volume accounts moving 30+ loads a month; entry
point is any business shipping one skid of product or more
- Primary decision-makers: Shipping Managers and Business Owners
SALES CYCLE / ORDER VALUE / ACCOUNT SIZE
Account size varies widely, from a single annual shipment to 100+ shipments per year per customer
- Deal complexity ranges from single-shipment, transactional orders to multi-truck, appointment-based
shipments
- Sales cycle length varies by opportunity type, and a self-built pipeline takes time to mature
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
Generally lower pricing than larger competitors, which helps open the door with new customers
- Best-in-class, one-on-one service: each customer works with just two people (their rep and accounting), not
a rotating team
- The one-on-one model performs especially well on complex, multi-truck or appointment-based shipments
TYPICAL DAY & DUTIES
Year 1 breakdown:
- 90% New Business Development
- 10% Account Management
On a typical day you will:
Prospect and cold-call B2B shippers across North America to uncover new shipping needs (minimum of 10
new contacts, with name, phone, and email, per day when prospecting)
- Source carrier options and provide competitive quotes, typically within an hour of a request
- Coordinate transportation using authorized, vetted carriers from the company's network
- Book orders, file required shipment paperwork, and trace shipments end-to-end, flagging any in-transit
issues
- Check the booking system before each outreach to confirm a prospect isn't already a customer, and log
brief intro-call notes
- Manage your own time and pipeline independently, balancing new-business hunting against servicing
existing accounts
LEADS
Approximately 90% self-sourced prospecting — there is no supplied prospect list; identifying which
companies to pursue is part of the role
- A limited number of warm leads (approximately 10%) supplied from past employees
- Repeat and referral business grows over time as your book of accounts develops
OVERNIGHT TRAVEL
None required
SUPPORT & TRAINING
Hands-on, learn-as-you-go training: mentorship, shadowing, and listening to live cold calls
- In-office training for approximately the first 2–3 weeks
- Training is primarily technical (products, process, systems) — the client hires for sales aptitude and teaches
the industry
- Reps bring live opportunities to leadership for coaching as they develop
- Full productivity is typically reached within 1–6 months
WHY YOU SHOULD APPLY
No industry experience required — full training is provided; the client hires for sales aptitude, not a freight
background
- Uncapped commission with no earnings ceiling — the current top performer cleared approximately
$400,000 after tax in a recent year
- Genuine autonomy: no daily task list, with freedom that scales as you deliver results
- Casual, flexible, and independent culture with strong long-term employee retention
- A real entry point into a growing freight brokerage with a clear, proven path to strong long-term earnings
