Research Pharmacy Technician

Position Overview:

Our rapidly expanding team is seeking a Research Pharmacy Technician who can work for us on a part-time basis, supporting our clinical operations team located in Guelph. The Research Pharmacy Technician will support drug receiving, distribution, return/destruction activities for clinical trials. The Research Pharmacy Technician will liaise with the CRO and Clinical Site Staff for studies to ensure proper allocation and handling of study products. The Research Pharmacy Technician will participate in subject/patient safety, quality assurance and improvement initiatives involving pharmacy and medication distribution activities.

Primary Responsibilities :

Receive and inventory study product for all clinical trials

Re-package/label as required

Handling and reconciliation of investigational products

Accurately complete pharmacy documentation for each study

Ensure proper storage and record keep of storage conditions for all investigational product for the pharmacies

Facilitate returns, destruction and archiving of investigational products

Promote safe medication practices in the clinic

Promotes GXP compliance across the organization

Other duties as required & as training and experience allow

Maintains an attitude and philosophy consistent with the Company’s standards

Core Competencies:

Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists in Part A of the register

Practical knowledge of pharmacology, current best practice clinical guidelines

Strong clinical assessment skills in identifying and solving investigational product related problems

Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (Health Canada, FDA) including Good Clinical Practice principles and industry standards

Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and to assess situations and problems efficiently and effectively

Experience with working with CRO’s, vendors, or consultants preferred

Excellent organizational and time management skills; prioritize multiple concurrent projects

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with others.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team

Proficient in the use of MS Office

Ability to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 20 pounds

Must be flexible and able to work early mornings. Standard clinic hours are 7am – 3pm, but vary based on study and subject requirements.

Ability to work weekends when the need arises (determined on a study by study basis)

Bachelor's of Science Degree in Pharmacy, or equivalent

Licensed as a pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists

Minimum of 1 year of pharmaceuticals/NHP dispensing experience within the pharmacy function of a pharmaceutical/CRO/Devices/Natural Health Product company
