Job Overview
Rose Hill Care at Home is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team at our Bradford care location.
The successful candidate will provide personal care and non-clinical support to multiple clients throughout the day while helping maintain a safe, respectful, comfortable, and engaging environment.
This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to respond to the varying needs of clients in a group care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Provide mobility assistance, transfers, repositioning, and other physical support as required.
- Assist with meals, feeding, hydration, and dietary needs.
- Provide companionship, social interaction, and support with recreational or daily activities.
- Provide medication reminders and permitted medication-related assistance in accordance with care plans and company policies.
- Support clients living with dementia, cognitive impairment, mobility limitations, or other care needs.
- Observe and promptly report changes in a client's condition, behaviour, or care needs.
- Complete required care notes, shift documentation, and incident reporting accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment.
- Assist with light housekeeping and other duties related to client comfort and safety.
- Follow individualized care plans and Rose Hill Care at Home policies and procedures.
- Maintain client dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and respect at all times.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, other PSWs, management, families, and members of the care team.
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate relevant client information appropriately.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A valid Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of one (1) year of professional PSW or caregiving experience.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- A recent and clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Current TB test.
- Up-to-date immunization records.
- Valid authorization to work in Canada.
- Professional references.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including mobility and transfer assistance when required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a care team.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset:
- Retirement or assisted living
- Long-term care
- Adult day programs or group care environments
- Dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Palliative or hospice care
- Mobility and transfer assistance
- Supporting individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments
Availability
Candidates may be considered for a variety of shifts depending on operational needs, including:
- Day shifts
- Evening shifts
- Weekends
- Full-time or part-time schedules
- Casual or relief coverage
