Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Drywall Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying joint compound to drywall seams, taping, and finishing surfaces to ensure a smooth, professional appearance. This role requires a strong understanding of drywall installation and finishing techniques, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment. Candidates with construction painting, carpentry, or handyman experience are encouraged to apply. The Drywall Taper plays a vital role in delivering high-quality interior finishes on residential and commercial projects.
Responsibilities
- Apply joint compound and tape to drywall seams, corners, and joints with precision and consistency
- Sand and smooth finished surfaces to prepare for painting or further finishing
- Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications to ensure accurate application of materials
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during taping and finishing tasks
- Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Collaborate with other trades such as carpenters, painters, and general contractors to meet project deadlines
- Perform caulking around windows, doors, and other fixtures as needed for a seamless finish
- Assist with minor carpentry or handyman tasks when required
Requirements
- Prior experience in drywall taping, finishing, or related construction work preferred
- Knowledge of construction painting, carpentry, caulking, and blueprint reading is highly desirable
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to read technical drawings and follow detailed instructions
- Handyman experience or familiarity with various construction trades is a plus
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a physically demanding environment
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between job sites as needed
