Job Description:
We are opening Victoria's first low cost mobile spay and neuter clinic. Our clinic will be for cats surgeries only with no overly complex issues. Our staffing model will include one vet, one RVT, one unregistered tech and one vet assistant. We will be offering spay and neuter services at cost to the public, rescues and community cats (TNR) to try and offer this important necessary service to as many people as possible, especially where cost is a barrier to treatment. Your role will be to complete the surgeries, complete the SOAP notes, and help lead the team.
We are looking at working a 4 day work with week/10 hour day to give more work life balance. Enjoy a three day weekend every week! We also are open to staffing with a few part time vets if needed, so please apply if you would like to do surgeries only one or two days a week. A few tasks to note that you must be comfortable performing:
1. We aim to complete all surgeries if a healthy cat is presented. This includes if the cat is pregnant we may will need to complete a late term spay.
2. We will be working with community/feral cats. All feral cats will come in appropriate traps and will be sedated in the trap. However you must be comfortable working with this type of animal.
3. We aim to be a high volume, high quality clinic. As such you need to be efficient as possible with all routine tasks.
4. Once every few months we hope to move the trailer/mobile clinic "onsite" to various local trouble locations and perform a full week of low cost or free surgeries as appropriate. Our travel weeks will include the entire team. These travel weeks will be the exception, not the rule and will most likely travel within 1.5 hours of our stationary location. The majority of the work is out of permanent location in Victoria.
5. We are operating out of a mobile clinic so you will be working closely with your team mates.
Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
If you are interested in making a difference in our cat population crisis and helping us create this clinic with your vision and policies in mind consider applying. We are in charge of the numbers, but you get to create the clinic / vet med policies! Build the clinic of your dreams.
