Required
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated concern for the care and comfort of patients
  • Ability to read, follow instructions, and basic math skills.
  • Must have satisfactory work performance in present position.
  • Must have previous proven good attendance record.
  • Must be able to perform heavy lifting.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments, and environment.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must successfully complete the required training program within probationary period.
  • Must be physically able to position and transfer patients, assist with combative patients.
  • Must be physically able to transport patients and equipment.
  • Must successfully complete the required training program within probationary period.
  • Ability to safely work with a variety to industrial housekeeping chemicals.
  • Ability to perform overhead cleaning.
  • Must be comfortable working on a ladder.
Desirable:
  • Familiarity and comfort with computerized systems.
  • Previous experience with hospital housekeeping duties.
  • Previous experience in safely operating housekeeping equipment.
Duties
  • Performs patient transportation duties within patient care unit area and to other locations within the hospital.
  • Assists in transferring, positioning or lifting patients under the direct supervision of a designated health care professional.
  • Housekeeping duties related to all patient care areas.
  • Distribution of patient meals, water and ice, supplies, linen, mail and flowers in patient care areas.
  • Assists in hospital codes as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned.
