Position Summary
The Early Childhood Educator (ECE) at CEFA is responsible for implementing a comprehensive program that fosters the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children. This role involves creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment while working collaboratively with a team of educators. The Educator supports the CEFA curriculum and methodology, promoting creativity, independence, and lifelong learning in every child.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom & Curriculum Implementation
- Plan and implement age-appropriate, engaging activities aligned with the CEFA curriculum.
- Create a stimulating, clean, and safe classroom environment.
- Support children’s independence, self-help skills, creativity, and social-emotional growth.
- Observe, document, and assess children’s progress, addressing individual learning needs.
- Integrate innovative teaching approaches, incorporating creative arts, literacy, math, science, and physical activity.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Maintain open and professional communication with parents, guardians, and staff through verbal and written updates.
- Work closely with co-teachers and school leadership to coordinate classroom activities and school events.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and ongoing training.
- Health, Safety & Professional Standards
- Follow all health, safety, and school policies to ensure a secure environment for children.
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and adherence to CEFA standards at all times.
- Contribute positively to the school culture and team environment.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education certification or equivalent (required)
- First Aid/CPR certification (required)
- Experience in childcare or early education (preferred, 2+ years)
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices
- Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform physically active tasks (lifting, kneeling, standing, bending)
- Familiarity with innovative early learning methodologies (Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or similar) is an asset
- Must pass a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
- Working Conditions
Full-time position
Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Classroom-based with active engagement in daily routines and activities
Occasional flexibility required for school events or special activities
$17.23-$20.39/hr plus ECE level top up.
Pay: $17.23-$20.39 per hour
