Responsibilities:
- Teach small group classes and private lessons to students in grades 9-12, with a focus on high school accounting courses, AP Economics and business competition (eg. DECA) preparation.
- Develop and deliver personalized lesson plans tailored to students' academic and competition needs.
- Teach key topics in microeconomics, macroeconomics, business management, marketing, finance, and entrepreneurship.
- Guide students in developing strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills necessary for both academic success and competitive business environments.
- Provide practice case studies, mock competitions, and detailed feedback to help students improve their performance.
- Stay updated on the latest business competition formats, trends, and AP Economics curriculum to ensure students are well-prepared.
- Foster a positive and motivating environment that encourages students to excel in both their academic and competitive pursuits.
Requirements:
- Strong subject knowledge: Must have an in-depth understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics, accounting, finance and key business principles.
- Experience with DECA or other business competitions: Prior experience coaching students for DECA competitions or similar business contests is highly preferred.
- Degree in a relevant field: Must hold a degree in Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
- Caring and patient: Must enjoy working with high-achieving students and be committed to their success in academics and competitions.
- Personalized instruction: Ability to develop customized lesson plans that address the specific needs of students preparing for AP Economics and business competitions.
- Adaptability: Capable of adjusting to new competition formats and teaching methods as required by competitions or academic curriculum changes.
- Team player: Willing to collaborate with other teachers and staff, and be flexible to assist with additional teaching responsibilities as needed.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Prior experience as a DECA competitor, coach, or judge is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of business concepts, case analysis, and decision-making frameworks.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate high school students to achieve their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate student schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in coaching or mentoring students in competitive academic or extracurricular programs.
- Familiarity with DECA’s competitive events and performance indicators.
- Professional experience in business, marketing, finance, or entrepreneurship.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $50.00-$60.00 per hour
