Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of deli products, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role is essential in ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience and receive high-quality food products. Prior experience in food service or the food industry is preferred, but we are willing to train motivated individuals with a strong work ethic.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble deli items such as sandwiches, salads, and cold cuts according to store standards
- Operate POS systems, including Micros POS, for accurate cash handling and transactions
- Assist customers with their selections, answer questions about products, and provide exceptional customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area in compliance with food safety standards
- Restock shelves and display cases with fresh products to ensure attractive presentation
- Manage time effectively to serve multiple customers efficiently during busy periods
- Upsell additional items to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality of all products
- Assist with inventory management and product rotation to minimize waste
Skills
- Experience in food preparation, food service, or the food industry preferred
- Knowledge of POS systems, especially Micros POS, for efficient cashiering
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Excellent time management abilities to handle high-volume periods smoothly
- Basic math skills for cash handling and transaction accuracy
- Understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices
- Kitchen or restaurant experience is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential
- Ability to upsell products effectively while maintaining excellent customer relations
