Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville is a 183-room hotel with restaurant, street level café, and over 3500 sq ft of meeting space, located in one of the most exclusive and sought-after areas of downtown Toronto, Canada.
Position Title: Groups and Catering Sales Manager/ Groups and Catering Sales Enthusiast.
Reports To: Director of Sales & Marketing/Lead Sales & Marketing Enthusiast

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $60,000–$76,000, with final compensation determined by factors such as experience, education, and certifications.
Job Overview: Responsible for developing and fostering new corporate transient business through proactive direct sales, outside appointments, and tours for the hotel. Also develops strategic action plans and drives measurable and incremental sales revenue.
POSITION SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development:

Identify and secure new group and catering business opportunities, targeting both corporate and social clientele.

Develop and implement strategies to increase group bookings, catering sales, and overall revenue.

Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business.

Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and close sales for events, meetings, and group bookings.
Event Planning & Coordination:
-
Oversee all event details for group bookings and catered events, ensuring a seamless process from initial inquiry to post-event follow-up.

Work closely with the kitchen, front-of-house, and other departments to ensure smooth event execution.

Collaborate with clients to understand their vision, preferences, and needs for their events.

Ensure events are executed on time and within budget, exceeding client expectations.
Customer Service & Relationship Management:

Provide exceptional customer service to group clients, ensuring their experience is positive and memorable.

Address and resolve any issues or concerns related to catering and group bookings.

Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients throughout the planning and execution phases of events.
Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate records of group sales activities, leads, contracts, and financial information.

Prepare and deliver sales reports to management, tracking progress toward goals.

Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to catering and group bookings.
Qualifications:

Education: A degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in catering sales, event planning, or group sales within the hospitality industry.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
Education & Experience – Post-secondary degree/diploma in sales or business preferred, with a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar sales role.
Communication & Professionalism – Strong written and verbal English skills with a polished, confident, and hospitable presentation style.
Technical Proficiency – Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Hilton OnQ PMS and Delphi is an asset.
Organization & Adaptability – Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain resourceful in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Flexibility & Mobility – Ability to travel for tradeshows and events; may require a valid driver’s license and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Physical & Functional Requirements – Capable of standing/moving for extended periods, lifting up to 25 lbs, handling administrative tasks, and applying mathematical, communication, and analytical skills regularly.
