Job Description
Position Summary
The Wellness Specialist, under the direction of the Director, Occupational Health & Wellness, is responsible to coordinate, develop, implement and evaluate innovative wellness strategies that support a corporate culture of psychological health and safety, physical wellbeing, and overall employee wellness.
The role contributes to the development of a comprehensive, integrated wellness program that promotes mental health, resilience, physical activity, injury prevention, and healthy workplace practices, ensuring an effective and sustainable approach to employee wellbeing.
This includes determining the service delivery model, administrative infrastructure, and communication strategy required to support the program, while tracking and reporting on outcomes to enhance both staff health, safety, and organizational effectiveness. The role also provides consultative support to leadership and teams to embed wellness, psychological health, and physical wellbeing into workplace practices across the organization
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of integrated employee wellness programs supporting mental, physical, and psychological health
- Coordinate program operations, including scheduling, registration, resources, and compliance processes
- Monitor program performance using metrics and data to evaluate effectiveness and drive continuous improvement
- Conduct research and apply best practices to enhance program design and employee experience
- Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies to promote engagement and participation
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a health-related field (e.g., Kinesiology, Recreation, Physiotherapy); Master’s preferred
- Certification in Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion
- Minimum 3 years’ experience developing and implementing wellness programs (preferably in a unionized environment)
- Experience delivering wellness or fitness programming considered an asset
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification and relevant fitness certifications required
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with program tracking and reporting
- Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders in a healthcare environment
