Position Summary:
The Logistics Operations Manager will be responsible for the operational performance of the inbound, outbound, distribution and reverse logistics functional teams. The role will manage the carrier selection and contract negotiations as part of the annual RFP process. The incumbent will be in charge of the relationship management and problem resolution with logistics service providers and customers in accordance with the internal company policies and goals. The Logistics Operations Manager will be responsible for the team members’ coaching, development, goal setting and evaluation. Timely application of critical thinking and strategic approach will be required to analyze and resolve complex logistics problems. Experience with process mapping, development and optimization will be essential for the efficient operations and management of the functional teams. Experience managing large workload, conflicting tasks, work under pressure with tight deadlines, along with communication with members from all levels of the organization will be essential for this role. The Logistics Operations Manager will be responsible for daily/weekly/monthly operations reports, business simulation, process testing and collaboration with cross-functional teams supporting different projects. Operational system knowledge of SAP, WMP and TMS is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Strategically monitor and identify inbound and direct ship related issues
· Oversee the 3PL warehouse operations and support the daily operations
· Manage the transportation management team and troubleshoot outbound related issues
· Monitor and troubleshoot the logistics processes for the e-commerce LMD channel
· Supervise the reverse logistics operations and timely resolve any pending issues
· Supervise, train, and support all team members.
· Lead cost control and process optimization initiatives
· Reporting and resolving operational issues and ensure process follow-through to prevent issue aging.
· Carrier contract management.
· Support the inventory control function and resolve system related issues
· Provide day-to-day management of operational status and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements.
- Manage and analyze status of inbound and outbound in transit delays
- Understand and use the internal technologies required for daily functions.
- Performs ad-hoc reporting, as required.
- Performs other tasks as required when your supervisor request.
- Flexible to work overtime when needed.
Knowledge/Experience/Competencies/Education/Mandatory Internal Training:
· College diploma or equivalent combination of education in a data entry of logistics or Freight Forwarding field.
· 5+ years of data entry of Freight Forwarding or Transportation/Logistics related experience in a managerial role.
· Knowledge of customs process/border crossing, intermodal operation, last mile delivery operation as asset.
· Tariff management and service level agreements negotiations
· Experience with RFP for outbound logistics service providers
· Logistics cost control and knowledge of how billing functions affect P&L.
· Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SAP.
· Strong Excel skills and analytical mindset.
· Logistics designations / Professional Accreditation (CCLP, P.Log.) an asset.
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction.
· The ability to read, prepare, interpret, and understand product shipment information from various order and shipping documents to ensure accuracy and thorough preparation of transportation documents.
· Experience creating and generating reports.
· Strong knowledge of North American logistics infrastructure and operations. Practical knowledge of the Canadian carrier and 3PL ecosystem.
· Strong communication and customer service skills.
· A self-starter attitude with an ability to work well in a fast paced environment
