The opportunity
The AVP of Financial and Corporate Communications leads the development and delivery of communications related to the Company’s Quarterly Earnings and Annual Reporting cycles, working with Investor Relations, Office of the Corporate Secretary, and Corporate Strategy to develop consistent themes about the company's strategy and financial performance that can be used and understood internally and externally. This candidate will also support communications, in support of Investor Relations and Corporate Strategy, for all corporate announcements and financial transactions.
The candidate will design and successfully execute sustained and episodic communications plans that consider both proactive and reactive tactics, liaising with relevant leads across Global Communications and other functions to do so. This role will report to the Global Chief Communications Officer and join the Global Communications Leadership Team.
Responsibilities
Primary communications lead for the company’s quarterly earnings and annual reporting cycles, partnering closely with Investor Relations and Strategy leads to develop key messages and all relevant quarter communications vehicles including but not limited to talking points, press releases, event and media briefs, and colleague memos.
- Proactively monitor and analyze industry and market trends on an ongoing basis, as well as competitor activities and earnings releases, to provide insightful recommendations.
- Support Investor Relations on key message development tied to all financial transactions.
- Continuously improve process and content; continuously work with business partners to identify and communicate key business highlights.
- Working with the Corporate Secretary, and the Global Events team, develop relevant materials for the Annual Report and Annual General Meeting.
- Support the Chief Financial Officer’s communications program including colleague engagement and external visibility initiatives, working in tandem with Global Communications practice areas to do so.
- Partner closely and proactively with the Global Finance leadership team to plan and respond to evolving communication needs, both internally and externally.
Monitor relevant reputation risks and opportunities with Communications team peers, contributing to Reputation Response preparedness and Reputation Outlook activities.

What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 10+ years relevant work experience gained in finance communications at a publicly traded company, preferably in the financial services industry.
- Insurance industry experience is a plus.
- Ability to communicate and present materials and concepts in a clear, effective, and persuasive manner.
- Experience in external and internal financial communications (e.g., investor relations, company financials, business finance, CFO support).
- Strong executive speechwriting skills required.
- Proactive idea generator and critical thinker.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple work streams at a fast pace, with acute attention to detail, completeness and accuracy.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to navigate and understand the broader organization to bring strategic counsel to the Finance leadership team.
- Track record of success handling multiple projects and ability to tie results to strategic business objectives.
- Influence and coordination skills to work with other internal areas and outside vendors to meet deadlines.

Salary range is expected to be between
$123,400.00 CAD - $229,300.00 CAD
