Work Location: In person – Warden Station area, Toronto
We are looking for a Junior Project Manager / Project Coordinator to join our construction team.
This is not a desk-only position. There will be office work, drawings, pricing, emails and coordination, but also site visits, measurements, checking work in progress, meeting trades, suppliers and clients, and dealing with the things that come up on a construction site.
Some days are more office based. Other days you may be at a site taking measurements in the morning, talking to a supplier after lunch, and reviewing drawings or pricing later in the day.
We are looking for someone who understands construction, can work from drawings, and wants to continue growing into a Project Management role.
What you will be doing.
- Assist with the coordination and management of construction and renovation projects.
- Review architectural, construction and shop drawings.
- Attend project sites for measurements, site reviews, supervision, progress checks and coordination.
- Take site measurements and document existing conditions.
- Assist with preparing scopes of work, estimates and quantity take-offs.
- Review subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and project schedules.
- Follow up on materials, deliveries and outstanding project items.
- Assist with change orders, pricing and project documentation.
- Review deficiencies and follow through until items are completed.
- Communicate with clients, property managers, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review drawings and project information for conflicts, missing information or details that need clarification.
- Keep project information, drawings, pricing and correspondence organized.
Projects can range from smaller service and restoration work to larger renovation and common-area construction projects.
Experience we are interested in.
Previous construction project coordination, project management, estimating, restoration or similar construction experience is preferred.
Experience in any of the following is a strong asset:
- Millwork and custom cabinetry.
- Waterproofing.
- Water damage restoration.
- Leak investigation and repair.
- Building restoration.
- Interior renovations.
- Condominium and commercial construction.
- Quantity take-offs and estimating.
You do not need to have worked in every one of these areas.
Drawings are important.
You should be comfortable reading and understanding construction drawings.
That includes things like:
- Floor plans.
- Elevations.
- Sections.
- Details.
- Dimensions.
- Shop drawings.
You don't need to be an expert, but you should be able to look at a drawing and understand what is supposed to be built. Experience creating, modifying or marking up drawings using pertinent software is an asset.
Software.
Experience with the following is an asset:
- Bluebeam Revu.
- Xactimate.
- Microsoft Excel.
- Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- AutoCAD or other CAD/drawing software.
- Estimating and take-off software.
- Construction or project management software.
We don't expect somebody to know every program.
Being able to learn new software and figure things out is more important.
What we are looking for.
- Good understanding of construction and how projects come together.
- Strong attention to measurements, drawings and details.
- Able to coordinate multiple construction projects with different sizes and scopes.
- Comfortable working directly with trades and suppliers.
- Able to communicate professionally with clients and property managers.
- Strong spoken and written English is important.
- Organized and able to keep track of several moving parts at the same time.
- Able to identify missing information, drawing conflicts or unclear scope and ask the right questions.
- Comfortable visiting active construction sites.
- Willing to learn.
- Practical problem solving skills.
- Someone that follows through. If something is outstanding, we need somebody who keeps track of it and gets it closed.

This position is based at our office near Warden Station in Toronto and is an in-person position.
Regular site visits throughout Toronto and the GTA will be required for measurements, meetings, site supervision, project reviews and other project related work.
G2 or G2 Driver License is required. Own vehicle is preferable.
About the role.
We are not necessarily looking for somebody who already knows everything.
We are looking for someone with a good construction foundation, technical ability and the right mindset to grow into managing projects independently.
If you are comfortable with drawings, understand construction, can communicate with people on site and in the office, and you are the type of person who wants to know how and why something is being built, this may be a good fit.
The role will have exposure to estimating, procurement, drawings, site coordination, restoration work, renovations and overall project management.
