Job Description
- The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end planning and execution of a large-scale industrial move for maintenance operations. This role will lead all logistical, operational, and contractor-managed activities required to safely and efficiently relocate equipment, tooling, inventory, and personnel to a new off-site location while maintaining uninterrupted production and service delivery.
- The Project Manager will act as the single point of accountability for scope, schedule, budget, health and safety, risk management, and stakeholder coordination throughout the relocation lifecycle. This role requires deep experience in industrial environments, strong leadership of cross-functional teams, and the ability to execute complex moves with zero tolerance for safety incidents or production losses.
- Lead the full lifecycle of the industrial relocation project from initiation through stabilization at the new site
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, risk registers, and execution strategies
- Establish governance structures, reporting cadence, and escalation protocols for senior leadership
- Serve as the primary liaison between operations, engineering, facilities, supply chain, IT, HR, and external stakeholders
- Plan and execute the relocation in a manner that ensures no loss of production, customer impact, or service disruption
- Coordinate phased moves, parallel operations, or contingency plans as required
- Work closely with operations leadership to align move sequencing with production schedules and capacity requirements
- Ensure critical tooling, equipment, and materials are available and operational at all times
- Select, manage, and oversee external contractors including rigging, transportation, construction, facilities, and equipment vendors
- Ensure contractors comply with all safety, regulatory, and site-specific requirements
- Manage contracts, scopes of work, milestones, and performance deliverables
- Ensure all relocation activities comply with applicable health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry standards
- Lead hazard assessments, job safety analyses, and risk mitigation plans for all phases of the move
- Maintain a strong safety culture with a goal of zero incidents or injuries
- Coordinate required permits, inspections, and regulatory approvals
- Develop and manage the project budget, including capital and operating expenditures
- Track costs, forecasts, and variances; implement corrective actions as required
- Ensure the project is delivered within approved budget parameters
- Provide clear, timely communication to employees, contractors, and leadership throughout the relocation
- Support employee transition activities in coordination with HR and site leadership
- Prepare executive-level status reports, dashboards, and post-move evaluations
Education &/or Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Operations Management, or a related field. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent is strongly preferred.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive project management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, repair & overhaul, or heavy maintenance environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale industrial relocations, facility moves, or major operational transitions.
- Proven track record of managing complex projects with multiple contractors and stakeholders.
- Strong experience maintaining operational continuity in a live production environment.
- Strong understanding of industrial operations, equipment moves, rigging, and logistics.
- Advanced project planning, scheduling, and risk management skills.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong financial acumen and budget control experience.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively under tight timelines and high operational risk
