Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Furniture Maker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, constructing, and restoring high-quality furniture pieces, utilizing a range of woodworking and construction skills. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprint reading, woodworking techniques, and the safe operation of hand and power tools. The Furniture Maker will collaborate with clients and team members to ensure the delivery of durable, aesthetically pleasing furniture that meets specifications and standards.
Duties
- Interpret and follow detailed blueprints, schematics, and drawings to construct custom furniture pieces.
- Cut, shape, assemble, and finish wood and other materials using hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery, and other equipment.
- Perform restoration work on antique or damaged furniture to preserve or enhance its appearance and functionality.
- Install cabinetry, shelving, or other furniture components on-site, ensuring proper fit and finish.
- Measure accurately for precise cuts and assembly; utilize construction estimating skills for project planning.
- Handle heavy lifting safely when moving large or bulky materials or finished products.
- Apply finishing techniques such as sanding, staining, painting, or sealing to achieve desired aesthetics.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace; adhere to safety protocols including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Collaborate with clients or project managers to discuss design specifications and modifications as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience in carpentry, woodworking, or furniture making is essential.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics, and construction drawings is required.
- Experience with CNC machinery, masonry, rebar installation, roofing, siding, or tile laying is a plus but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of restoration techniques and cabinetry installation enhances candidate suitability.
- Skills in electrical or plumbing work are advantageous for integrated furniture projects involving these systems.
- Prior experience with construction painting, flooring installation, caulking, heavy lifting, or handyman tasks is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to work with hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently in a manufacturing or construction environment.
