Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated professional to join our team as a Staff Accountant who will be responsible for providing accounting and tax services to our small and medium-sized clients. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of filing personal taxes and previous accounting experience will be an asset.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Day-to-day transaction recording and categorization through QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Accounts payable management and accounts receivable tracking.
- Payroll processing, along with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for WorkSafeBC and client payroll remittances.
- Applying relevant tax requirements to prepare and file government remittances, including GST, PST, WCB, ROE, T4s, and T5s through the CRA's online e-filing system.
- Assisting with the preparation of personal (T1) and corporate (T2) income tax returns.
- Monthly financial statement preparation and support with month-end and year-end close.
- Assisting with compilation and review engagements, including working paper preparation and supporting documentation.
- Year-end file preparation for client accountants and engagement leads.
- Processing and filing incoming client mail and correspondence from the CRA.
- Assisting with office administration duties.
What You'll Bring
You're more than your credentials — you're collaborative, detail-oriented, and ready to grow. Ideally, you bring:
- A diploma or bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or Accounting (or a related field) with a focus in Accounting and/or Finance from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- An understanding of accounting concepts, with a solid working knowledge of ASPE and review engagement standards and the ability to apply them in real-world scenarios.
- 1 year of accounting experience, with exposure to client engagements, is an asset.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Caseware, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office, with comfort managing multiple priorities and adopting emerging technologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical, technical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, and committed to meeting deadlines.
