About the Role
Heartland Café & Restaurant is seeking a high-level Sous Chef to support and execute a refined, chef-driven menu in a fast-paced, detail-oriented kitchen. This is a leadership position for a professional who takes pride in precision, consistency, and elevated presentation.
We are not a volume kitchen. We focus on quality, execution, and guest experience at a high standard.
Who You Are
- Minimum 6+ years in professional kitchens, with fine dining experience required
- Proven ability to run service with calm control and strong communication
- Strong understanding of sauces, butchery, and classical techniques
- Detail-driven with a high standard for plating and consistency
- A leader who can train, hold standards, and elevate the team
- Comfortable working closely with ownership and contributing to menu development
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and uphold high-level plating and consistency standards
- Lead service and ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Maintain strict food cost, prep discipline, and waste control
- Oversee prep, ordering, and inventory management
- Train and mentor cooks to meet fine dining expectations
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and professionalism at all times
