Position Summary
We have an opportunity for a Family Physician at Ravensview, part of Homewood Health, the national leader in mental health and addictions treatment in Canada. This position is within our specialized treatment program delivering evidence-based treatments and superior treatment outcomes. This program is delivered on-site at Ravensview, in a collaborative manner, with a supportive interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, dieticians, social workers, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, and horticulture therapists. In this role, you will be responsible for the clinical care of patients as they engage in their recovery journey.
Homewood Ravensview is a private 75-bed in-patient mental health, trauma and addiction facility offering evidence-based, medically led, inpatient services for first responders, military, veterans, executives & professionals, adults, and young adults. Located in North Saanich on Vancouver Island, on 28 acres of forested hillside just minutes from Victoria. What you’ll be doing:
- Provide medical care for inpatients 2-5 days per week on a consultant basis (not MRP), for routine physical assessments and addressing general medical concerns. The volume of patients is approx. 1-2 per hour
- No on-call or after-hours commitment is required
- Collaborate with other physicians, nurses and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team
- Utilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided)
- Provide clinical guidance to the program and to the admitting department for appropriate and timely referrals and admissions
- Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained
- Support colleagues with patient coverage during physician absences
- Complete and submit MSP billings in a timely manner
- Liaison with third party referrers as needed for continuity of care (VAC, provincial workers compensation boards, employers)
What we are looking for:
- Degree in Medicine and a license, in good standing, to practice medicine in BC
- Registration with CFPC and CPSBC
- Mental health or addiction medicine experience is valued but not required
- Adept at creating an environment that supports team spirit and collaboration across the organization
- Faculty appointment preferred – experience in working with medical students and residents
- Inspire others to be accountable through action, decisions and/or communication
- Strong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, customers, and colleagues
- Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis and complex problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly developed organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital

Homewood Health promotes a fair and competitive compensation model. Pay rates are tailored to reflect differences in operating environments and job requirements. Compensation is influenced by many factors including compensation principles or approach for a role or job function, organizational tenure, experience, qualifications or premium skills, external competitiveness, internal comparability, geography and work performance. The pay for this position is $180/hourly, paid as a flat daily rate which includes time for charting and no overhead.
