Job Summary
The Tahltan Mobile Support Team (MST) plays a crucial role within the Tahltan Nation, collaborating with community agencies to provide a range of essential services, including seminars, workshops, crisis response, and care planning for individuals and families. The Mental Health & AddictionsTeam Lead aligned with the vision and values of the Tahltan Band Council, conducts comprehensive assessments, care planning, and treatment coordination for designated clients and families. Working in tandem with the multidisciplinary team, the Team Lead delivers direct psychosocial care, counselling, group work, system navigation, and advocacy while facilitating client self-management.
This position primarily serves the communities of Telegraph Creek, Dease Lake, and Iskut, providing a continuum of services, including prevention, promotion, education, crisis intervention, and consultation on cultural and clinical interventions.
Please note, this position requires being in community for at least 10 days a month. The ideal candidate would be living in the community for at least 10 days a month and could fly back to their home community for the rest of the month. Staying in community for more than 10 days a month is welcome, however, you must be able to provide at least 10 days commitment each month.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating with existing services, providing crisis response, capacity building, and training on suicide risk awareness and prevention.
- Acting as a resource person, providing orientation, in-service sessions, and education to multidisciplinary teams and other health professionals.
- Participating in committees, meetings, and conferences as required. } Undertakes regular, pre-scheduled visits to the territory to provide direction and support to staff and engagement with community members.
- Provides remote crisis response for communities and community members when critical events have occurred that require services and support that exceed existing capacity.
- Collaborates with existing services to support cross-training mental health and substance use staff to ensure their capacities are strong in both areas.
- Undertakes regular, pre-scheduled visits to the territory to provide direction and support to staff and engagement with community members.
- Liaise with communities and provide recommendations re-education and capacity building to staff and programs regarding specific community-identified needs.
- Enhances service provision and facilitate interagency cooperation where applicablePlans, directs, coordinates and supervises the delivery of the MST Program in consultation with the PAC.
- Implements the budgeting and coordination of MST.
- Oversees the security and maintenance of client records.
- Manages and Oversees all Corporate assets utilized by MST, housing, fleet vehicles, equipment, etc.
- Engages health directors or health leads at regular intervals in planning and implementation. This includes social media updates, emails, google calendar maintenance.
- Oversees staff management responsibilities related to the MST, including the recruitment process, work plans, performance and coaching, communications, scheduling, transportation, OHS.
- Provides support for the development and implementation of new projects, programs and initiatives. Policy creation, implementation, review, evaluation and reporting is also done in collaboration with team members.
- Participate in the development of Best Practice Guidelines for the MST in collaboration with community feedback.
- Builds, promotes, and maintains strong partnerships, and participates in programs in collaboration with other external organizations as appropriate. This includes zoom meetings, in community visits, social engagements, updates, social media posts, phone calls and emails.

Skills, Education, Experience
- Master’s degree in social work, nursing or clinical counseling from an accredited university, OR Bachelor’s degree in social work, nursing or clinical counselling with a minimum of five (5) years of recent related Mental Health & Addictions experience.
- Current registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers, British Columbia Association of Clinical Counselors, the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association or BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Recent experience in a leadership capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Driver’s License.
- Experience working with BC First Nations organizations and communities.
- Knowledge of First Nations health governance landscape, mental wellness, and cultural protocols.

Compensation Package
- This is a 0.60 FTE Position
