Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager to support daily kitchen operations and team leadership in a fast-paced cafeteria environment. In this role, you will work closely with the management team to oversee kitchen service, maintain food quality and safety standards, drive team development, and ensure smooth, efficient daily operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who leads by example, works seamlessly with the team, and maintains organization, consistency, and positive leadership under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Assist in leading and managing daily kitchen operations
- Oversee food preparation and service execution to ensure high standards
- Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff for continuous development
- Monitor and enforce food safety, sanitation, and health standards
- Assist with inventory control, ordering, and cost management
- Support prep planning, station organization, and resource allocation
- Manage service flow and trouble-shoot issues during busy periods
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments
- Communicate effectively between upper management and team members
- Lead or assist with opening and closing procedures
- Support kitchen performance, productivity, and team accountability
Qualifications
- 2+ years of kitchen experience preferred
- Previous leadership, supervisor, or management experience considered a strong asset
- High-volume kitchen or cafeteria experience preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Food Safety certification preferred
- Reliable, highly organized, and self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work and lead effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible availability including weekends and seasonal business demands
Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
