Overview:
Reporting to the Superintendent of Parks & Facilities this position is to assist with the operation and maintenance of the Lou Jeffries Arena. Main duties of this position include general cleaning duties, monitor building, removing, and installing nets, meeting room set ups and tear downs, receiving payments, and conducting skate patrol during public skating times. A Student Rink Attendant will also assist with inquiries from the public and facility users and will ensure compliance with health and safety requirements in all aspects of the work.
Qualifications:
- Must be presently enrolled as a full-time student;
- Minimum age to apply is 15;
- Effective public relations and communication skills;
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. independently;
- Ability to skate;
- Basic knowledge of cleaning and building maintenance and mechanical equipment and procedures an asset.
- Satisfactory Canadian Police Information Centre check (CPIC)
Work Environment:
- Work will be on an as required basis, days, evenings and weekends
- Work is completed inside and outside in all weather conditions
- This position requires a person who can work independently, multi-task and work in a busy, sometimes disruptive, environment.
- Must be able to provide customer service to the public in a friendly, respectful and helpful manner on a regular basis while carrying out related tasks.
