Our client is a leading innovator consulting engineering industry, specializing in advanced engineering solutions for building infrastructure and design. They are committed to delivering state-of-the-art electrical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare and other project typologies. This dedicated team are looking for a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to join them in pushing the boundaries of building engineering.
THE ROLE
As an Electrical Engineer specializing in Buildings Engineering. you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems for a variety of building projects. You will work closely with a diverse team to ensure that electrical systems are efficient, safe, and compliant with all relevant codes and standards.
- Design, develop, and test electrical systems and components for building projects, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and communication systems.
- Manage and nurture client relationships as well as with other stakeholders
- Participate in some business development tasks including proposal development
- Create detailed electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams tailored to building specifications.
- Conduct simulations and analyze test results to optimize system performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and construction teams to integrate electrical systems into overall building designs.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local building codes, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
- Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders, including clients and regulatory agencies.
- Project management, including resource allocation and budget management
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in electrical engineering and incorporate new technologies into building projects.
- Assist in the development of project plans, schedules, and cost estimates.
WHAT'S REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer Designation with APEGA
- Proven experience across Project Management and Client Liaison
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, circuit design, and building systems such as commercial, institutional, civic or residential (Oil & Gas or heavy industrial project experience will not be considered an equivalent to this project typology)
- Experience with power distribution, lighting design, and low voltage systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience managing and mentoring junior staff is an asset
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy-efficient systems.
- Project management experience.
- Leadership and business development experience an asset
