Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Butcher Shop Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and customer service, with a focus on providing high-quality meat products and an exceptional shopping experience. This role involves assisting with meat cutting, food handling, packaging, cleaning and maintaining food safety standards in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Assist with meat cutting and preparation following safety and quality standards
- Handle food products with care, ensuring proper hygiene and food safety protocols are maintained
- Package meat products accurately for retail display and customer purchases
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the butcher shop area, including tools and equipment
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and assisting customers with their selections
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with health regulations
- Support inventory management by restocking supplies and monitoring product freshness
- Follow all safety guidelines related to food handling, knife use, and equipment operation
Experience
- Prior experience in the food industry, especially in butchery or meat preparation, is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and proper packaging techniques is advantageous
- Experience with kitchen or food service environments will be considered a plus
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and adherence to safety protocols are essential
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work efficiently in a team environment are highly valued
This is a seasonal position from September Until Mid December with possibility of continued work but not guaranteed.
Must have a reliable vehicle and be local to the surrounding area. The Butcher shop is located just 12 mins from Glaslyn in a rural location.
Pay: $15.50-$18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
