Warehouse Associate/ Palletizer
Prairie West Ice Cream is a Manitoba family-owned and operated business dedicated to producing high-quality ice cream products. Our plant is currently CFIA, BRC, and Peanut-free certified. Our plant produces several brands of ice cream in a variety of container sizes and is increasing our portfolio each year with new products and clients. The successful candidate would require demonstrated warehouse experience as well as the proficiency in cross-functional collaboration.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Arrange and stack products onto pallets according yo specified patterns to ensure stability and safety during transport.
- Inspect products for defects and damages before palletizing.
- Load and unload shipments from trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and safe lifting techniques.
- Attach appropriate labels, or tags to pallets.
- Maintain accurate records of palletized products for inventory control.
- Assist in tracking inventory levels by accurately counting and reporting the number of pallets prepared.
- Ensure storage of ingredients at food-safe temperatures and adhering to allergen controls.
- Ensure frozen inventory is stored and shipped on a first-in, first-out (FIFO) basis.
- Work safely in freezer conditions (-25°C) for extended periods.
- Perform general warehouse duties and maintain cleanliness in warehouse, cooler, and freezer.
- Assist other departments with ingredient and packaging supply for scheduled production.
Qualifications:
- Experience with food and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and have knowledge of traceability/ recall.
- Forklift and pallet jack experience are required.
- Mechanical aptitude – able to operate tools and equipment necessary in the performance of shipping/ receiving duties.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in operational tasks and documentation.
- Accountability to abide by rules and regulations.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work without supervision.
- Reliable, dependable, accountable, and flexible.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license, Class 3 with air preferred.
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Proficient in English language (verbal, reading, and written).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 – 70 lbs.
- Ability to work on feet for long periods.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and possess good communication skills.
