Overview
We are seeking an experienced Civil Supervisor to oversee and coordinate civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of construction management software, and the ability to manage multiple aspects of civil projects from planning through completion. This role offers an opportunity to lead teams, ensure quality standards, and deliver projects on time and within budget. The Civil Supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and excellence across all phases of construction.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee crews
- Organize daily work plans, including labor, equipment allocation, and materials
- Track production progress and re-prioritize work as conditions or schedules change
- Enforce adherence to site rules, safety legislation, and company procedures
- Review and approve crew time, manage attendance issues, and support scheduling needs
- Actively promote safe work practices through FLHAs, toolboxes, and field engagement
- Mentor crew members
- Coordinate equipment operation, inspections, and minor maintenance requirements
- Identify and escalate operational risks, delays, or issues to site leadership
Skills
- Proven experience supervising crews in civil construction
- Strong field-based leadership style with the ability to lead by example
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety
- Shift Boss Certificate or mine supervisor certificate considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction
- Working knowledge of equipment, production workflows, and site coordination, material management
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Reading and interpreting civil construction drawings, grading plans, and specifications
- Reading and interpreting utility plan and profile sheets, including pipe sizes, materials, slopes, invert elevations, and structure locations
- Understanding of soil types, compaction standards, and geotechnical reports
- Knowledge of cut and fill operations and mass earthwork balancing
- Familiarity with GPS machine control systems
- Understanding of survey basics: benchmarks, grades, tolerances
- Knowledge of erosion and sediment control
- Excavation and trenching safety requirements
- Knowledge of confined space entry procedures
- Ability to conduct and document Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and toolbox talks
- Incident investigation and reporting experience
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout and traffic control procedures
- Ability to plan, schedule, and sequence daily earthwork operations
- Subcontractor coordination and oversight
- Production tracking and reporting (daily quantities, progress vs. schedule)
- Material management: ordering, tracking, and waste reduction
- Conflict resolution and team leadership
Proficiency in overseeing and directing the operation of:
- Bulldozers
- Graders
- Excavators
- Compactors
- Haul trucks and articulated dump trucks
- Water trucks and compaction equipment

Pay: $43.25-$51.50 per hour
