York Region Utility Services Ltd (YRUS) is looking for an Electrical Meter Installer to join our growing team. YRUS provides electrical meter services; underground electrical transformer services; and OEB inspections of underground and overhead electrical distribution assets. We are seeking a hard-working individual who is eager to learn and has a strong interest in the electrical field.
The position is based in Uxbridge and normal working hours are Mon- Fri 7:00am- 4:00pm. Based on workload, there may be opportunity for overtime and weekend work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, test, and commission electrical meters
- Work alongside PLT or underground cable journeyperson as required
- Complete regular maintenance and meter inventory
- Complete inspections on overhead and underground utility distribution system assets and record electronically
- Ensure safe work procedures are followed at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- Power Meters Course, Electrical metering experience and/or other relevant work experience considered an asset, but willing to train the right individual (applicant to complete any applicable training courses once hired)
- Ability to read and interpret maps for identifying asset locations
- Comfortable with computer applications and usage of metering software and hardware. (training will be provided on software)
- Highly motivated with continued focus on updating skills and knowledge
- Competent with standard electrician tools
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills with coworkers, clients, and members of the public
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional approach
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Knowledge of and experience with computer software such as Microsoft Office
- First Aid & CPR certificates and knowledge of ESA, EUSR and the Occupational Health & Safety Act are considered an asset
- A valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License, driver’s insurance, and an excellent driving record (Drivers Abstract required prior to hiring)
- Criminal Record Check required prior to hiring due to nature of this position
Rate of pay range $30-40/hr to be determined based upon experience and qualifications
