OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manager of the Legal Department, you will assist in a variety of real estate, finance, corporate, and business law matters. You will be exposed to a wide range of legal practice areas and it is key you are driven by continuous learning. You will also have a high level of responsibility for your respective practice area, must be able to work independently, work in collaboration with your team members, and work with external counsel as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and deliver legal disclosure documents in alignment with provincial regulations and industry standards, ensuring compliance at every stage of project development.
- Collaborate effectively with multifamily project managers, external legal counsel, and stakeholders to streamline communication and maintain project momentum.
- Provide essential administrative support for the conveyance process, while managing legal documentation within our internal systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Coordinate consents and registrations for Phased Condominium Developments, ensuring compliance with the Condominium Property Act and related regulations.
Additionally, you will:
- Have the opportunity to propose solutions and recommend process improvements to enhance cross-functional efficiency.
- Participate in weekly Legal team meetings and quarterly inter-departmental meetings, contributing to strategic discussions and initiatives.
- Stay up to date with real estate legislation across multiple provinces and play an active role in ensuring ongoing compliance with legal requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- You have 3+ years in condominium real estate in Alberta (additional experience in other provinces is valued)
- You hold relevant post-secondary education such as a diploma in paralegal studies, legal assistant/ secretary certificate, or equivalent experience.
- You have experience in interpreting legislation such as the Condominium Property Act and Business Corporations Act.
- You have a good understanding of the Alberta Land Titles Office processes, documents, and registration.
- You have advanced understanding of Microsoft office products and a proficiency in Excel ability to learn new software and updates quickly with ease.
- You have a desire for continuing education and personal development and are prepared to mentor and educate your colleagues.
