Job Summary
Provides prompt and courteous delivery of food and beverage to hotel guests in the comfort of their guestroom.
Job Title: In-Room Dining Server
Reports To: Assistant Food & Beverage Services Manager
Department: Food and Beverage / Room Service
Availability: Full Time
Starting Wage for the position will be CA$17.60 on probation and will increase to CA$19.00 after probation is completed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year Food & Beverage experience in a Hotel or related industry.
- Post-secondary degree in Food & Beverage preferred.
- Smart Serve Certification and Food Safe.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of guests, employees and management.
- Excellent organizational, computer, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Very Strong oral and written communication skills.
Daily Tasks
- Provides all guests with friendly and professional service.
- Ensures all deliveries to the room are completed in a timely manner, following standards while ensuring excellent food and beverage quality.
- Thirty (30) minutes after delivery, contacts guests to ensure satisfaction with service.
- Maintains the work area in a clean and orderly manner, as well as room service carts and trays.
- Answers phone within three rings using proper telephone etiquette. Takes guest’s orders in a friendly and courteous manner while suggestive selling.
- Retrieves food from the kitchen, beverages from the bar and ensures any alcohol sales are according to local and provincial liquor laws.
- Completes all side work including pre-setting room service carts and trays, ensuring cleanliness and stocking workstation, polishing cutlery and folding napkins for the next shift, filling all salt/pepper, sugars, storing all condiments.
- Has knowledge of the menus, prices, food preparation, current promotions and daily specials.
- Promotes guest relations by greeting the guest when delivering, engaging the guest in conversation and using the guests’ names whenever possible, using proper etiquette.
- Follows proper dish pit procedures by sorting glass, linen, silver and china in its assigned places, as well as recycling procedures.
- Closes all checks, confirms all charge postings, cashes out and completes all credit card pre-authorizations.
- Performs regular checks of the guest floors and removes trays and dishes from the guest area.
- Communicates any work-related issues, conflicts, incidents and accidents to management in a timely manner.
- Attends all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Checks bulletin board frequently for posted memos, schedules, announcements and other information, also reads and maintains kitchen board updated for daily specials and out of stock items, confirming it with management.
- Reports to work on time and in uniform as scheduled, follows call-in procedures, notifies, and/or gets authorization from management before leaving workstation.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Management.
