This position works within established Public Health Nursing (PHN) best practices using a population health and community development approach to assess a range of factors that determine the health of childbearing families and communities during the prenatal/postnatal period; to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate services; and to coordinate PHN services with those of other community agencies.
The successful applicant provides health promotion, health education and disease/injury prevention programs and services to individuals, groups and communities in locations such as homes, schools, and other community settings to increase the knowledge of health, promote healthy behaviors, and provide early identification and intervention services to prevent disease and injury. Provides feedback and input to the Manager (or designate) regarding service improvements.
The population this position focuses on is childbearing and childrearing families in the prenatal/postnatal period
This is a casual position which means hours are not guaranteed and may vary as needed. Hours of work are 08:30- 16:30.

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Completion of a recognized course in human lactation and breastfeeding and one (1) year recent, related experience in public health maternity care nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training experience.
Current valid BC Driver’s License.
