McKee-Pownall Equine Services (MPES) is looking for an energetic Equine Veterinary Assistant (Full-Time) to join team at our Uxbridge clinic.
As part of our veterinary team, you’ll be:
- Assisting veterinarians by holding, jogging, restraining and preparing horses for evaluation and/or treatment.
- Setting up, preparing and maintaining diagnostic equipment.
- Assisting in the stocking and upkeep of the clinic facilities and the team’s veterinary vehicles.
- Occasionally assisting with administrative duties such as answering telephones, scheduling appointments, greeting in-clinic clients and processing invoices.
Some characteristics that would help you succeed in this role:
- A love of horses (of course) with a keen interest in expanding your knowledge of equine care.
- An eye and ear for amazing customer service and spotting opportunities to go above and beyond.
- A friendly, personable disposition (a great sense of humour is a definite plus).
- Creativity, self-awareness and a proactive work ethic.
- Master problem-solving skills that set your team up for success.
- The ability to work autonomously while adhering to procedures, juggling shifting priorities and maintaining clear communication.
Specific requirements for this role:
- Has significant recent hands-on horse experience and a high comfort level with handling all types of equines.
- Is capable of lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Can jog with a horse in hand for up to 15 minutes, multiple times per day.
