Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant with a minimum of 2 years of legal assistant experience in a commercial corporate practice to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of legal processes. The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of our practice while delivering exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Assist lawyers drafting documents, including contracts, resolutions and closing documents
- Manage case files using MS Office, Epona and Appara and ensure all documentation is accurately filed and organized.
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Maintain effective communication through phone etiquette when interacting with clients, courts, and other parties.
- Coordinate project management tasks to ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
- Provide clerical support including filing, scheduling appointments, and managing correspondence.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Alberta real estate transactions, mortgage financing, land titles procedures, and closing processes
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume practice with minimal supervision
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems
- Experience with Unity, Epona, and ESILaw strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
- Excellent organizational and file management skills
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Professional communication skills and a client-service mindset
- Experience supporting commercial transactions and corporate law matters is considered a significant asset
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
