Position : Digital Communications Lead
Work Location: Administration Office, 204 Main St, Winkler
On-site. Remote work not available.
Status: Full-Time, Permanent
Shifts: Typically, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends required.

What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Digital Communications Lead is responsible for developing and executing marketing content that drives customer engagement, increases store traffic, and delivers measurable sales growth across multiple retail categories. This role goes beyond content creation and social media management; it requires a business-minded marketer who understands customer behavior, retail sales drivers, promotional planning, and the complete marketing function.
The Digital Communications Lead will leverage social media, email marketing, digital advertising, customer loyalty initiatives, and emerging marketing channels to connect with customers and convert engagement into in-store and/or online purchases. This position combines creativity with analytical thinking, ensuring all marketing efforts contribute to business objectives and return on investment.
This role supports Gardenland Co-op’s marketing initiatives through compelling content creation, social media management, website maintenance, digital advertising, graphic design, and marketing analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
Living the Brand:
Consistently represent and uphold the Co-op brand by demonstrating Gardenland Co-op’s vision, mission, and values in all interactions.
Act as a Co-op ambassador with a strong understanding of the Cooperative Retailing System and the cooperative business model.
Work in a safe manner; follow safety program.
Marketing and Business Growth
Develop content and execute integrated marketing strategies that support organizational objectives, increase customer engagement, and drive sales growth across multiple retail categories.
Collaborate with Marketing Manager to identify marketing opportunities, seasonal promotions, and customer engagement strategies.
Translate business goals into actionable marketing campaigns that deliver measurable results.
Develops and fosters strong working relationships within the leadership team, and all team members of Gardenland Co-op.
Digital Marketing & Customer Engagement
Develop and manage digital marketing campaigns across social media, email marketing, digital advertising, and emerging marketing channels.
Build customer awareness, engagement, and loyalty through targeted communications and promotional activities.
Create and implement customer retention and loyalty initiatives that encourage repeat business.
Identify opportunities to enhance the customer journey and overall customer experience.
Support promotional planning and campaign execution across all retail categories.
Content Creation & Brand Management
Develop engaging content including written communications, graphics, photography, and video.
Create marketing materials for digital and traditional channels.
Ensure all communications are aligned with brand standards and organizational messaging.
Support storytelling initiatives that highlight products, services, customers, employees, and community involvement.
Website, Digital Platform Management
Maintain and update website content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and brand consistency.
Improve website usability, customer engagement, and online conversion opportunities.
Support online forms, promotional landing pages, and event registrations.
Assist with search engine optimization (SEO) and digital visibility initiatives.
Marketing Analytics & Reporting
Track, analyze, and report on marketing campaign performance across all digital channels.
Monitor key performance indicators including engagement, traffic, conversions, sales impact, and return on investment.
Use customer insights, sales data, and marketing analytics to inform strategy and decision-making.
Provide regular reports and recommendations to leadership.
Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration
Coordinate with internal departments to support marketing objectives and promotional activities.
Work with external vendors, agencies, media partners, and suppliers as required.
Maintain positive working relationships with community organizations, staff and business partners.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in marketing, business, communications, digital marketing or a related field preferred.
3+ years’ experience in social media management or digital marketing.
Experience managing multiple social media platforms for a business.
Strong understanding of the local business landscape and communities in Southern Manitoba.
Active involvement in the local community is required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
Experience with JotForm, Mail Chimp, Meta Business Suite.
Proficiency with graphic design, content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar platforms.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Proficient is Office 365; Outlook, Excel, Word in particular.
Photography experience an asset.
Videography experience an asset.
Class 5 license and willingness to travel to our locations in Southern Manitoba required.
