Our team in the Toronto office is seeking a Specifications Writer, reporting directly to the Manager – Specifications, who will synthesize, interpret and compile technical information to create Project Manuals to include procurement, bidding, contract, administrative and technical requirements for multi-disciplined projects.

Duties:As a Specification Writer you will:
Provide technical support to Project Managers, Designers, Job Captains, and Contract Administrators to respond to and resolve issues or concerns
Liaise closely with clients to offer technical opinions, recommendations and provide explanations of contract requirement
Interpret client’s requirements to ensure specifications are accurate
Coordinate engineering discipline specifications for inclusion into Project Manuals

Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone.
Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required.
Computer skills to produce effective technical documents and reports. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant office software.
Knowledge of architectural design principles and procedures. Understanding of relevant building codes and jurisdictional requirements.

Experience:
Greater than one year, but less than or equal to two years architectural/building technician or equivalent experience.

Qualifications:
Have successfully completed related post-secondary education equivalent to a 3 year college diploma in Architectural Technology
Knowledge of Architectural software skills (i.e. AutoCAD, Revit) is an asset
Is familiar with Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural building systems, permits and building codes
Possess superior organizational, time management and problem solving skills
Demonstrate an ability to coordinate with other team members and to collaborate with other professional disciplines
