The HSE Manager will be responsible for overseeing our company-wide HSE program and ensuring our operations, drivers, equipment, and employees meet applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable working with both office and field operations and who can build strong relationships with drivers, mechanics, management, staff and customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the company's Health, Safety & Environmental program
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and programs
- Ensure compliance with applicable transportation, occupational health and safety, environmental, and industry regulations
- Monitor driver and equipment compliance, including required documentation and inspections
- Conduct regular field and site inspections
- Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and safety concerns
- Complete incident reporting and follow-up, including corrective and preventative actions
- Maintain and audit employee, driver, and safety records
- Coordinate and participate in internal and external safety audits
- Track safety performance, trends, and key performance indicators
- Develop and deliver safety orientations, training, toolbox meetings, and ongoing safety education
- Work closely with Operations and Maintenance to identify and address safety concerns
- Ensure corrective actions are properly documented and completed
- Support drug and alcohol testing programs where applicable
- Assist with emergency response planning and preparedness
- Maintain environmental compliance and reporting requirements
- Stay current with changes to transportation and occupational health and safety legislation
- Promote a strong, positive safety culture throughout the organization
- Provide regular HSE updates and recommendations to senior management
Assets
- NCSO, CRSP, CHSC, or other recognized HSE designation
- Experience with COR and internal safety audits
- Experience developing and implementing HSE programs
- Previous HSE experience in the transportation, trucking, oil & gas, or industrial industry
- Strong knowledge/experience of transportation/CVSE/DOT compliance and workplace safety regulations
- Experience with incident investigations and corrective action processes
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Comfortable working with drivers, shop personnel, operations, and management
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and safety/compliance management systems
- Valid driver's licence
Pay: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
