Reporting to the Manager, Regional Programs and Psychosocial Oncology, Cancer Program, the Program Coordinator works within a team environment and in partnership with internal and external team members, Regional Clinical Leads and other stakeholders to plan, execute, and deliver all Cancer Program and Regional Cancer Program (RCP) initiatives/projects on time, within budget, and in accordance to specifications.
The Program Coordinator will develop project plans as applicable; outlining the required activities, project resources, and coordinate the efforts of project team members. The role involves efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, and clear communication of expectations to stakeholders, and upward reporting to management. The Program Coordinator supports the RCP leadership team with the regional provision of quality services in the Ontario Cervical Screening Program (OCSP), ColonCancerCheck (CCC), and Primary Care, as well as regional program development, health promotion, and community engagement. The Program Coordinator may assist with other Cancer Program and RCP priority initiatives or projects in collaboration with the leadership team, Regional Clinical Leads, and other coordinators, as required.
This position will interact with all levels of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and families, members of the leadership team of all departments, across regional partner sites, and Ontario Health-Cancer Care Ontario.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend Ontario Health-Cancer Care Ontario (OH-CCO) meetings as required; participate in discussions and review of materials, as requested.
- Coordinate the implementation of Regional and Provincial cancer screening campaigns and events based on current evidence and/or best practice, which may be provider or public facing.
- Coordinate Cancer Screening initiatives, including but not limited to, Nursing and Medical School students in collaboration with the University of Windsor and Schulich School of Medicine.
- Coordinate and plan provider education conferences and public education strategies in collaboration with Regional Clinical Leads and/or planning committees, where applicable.
- Support cancer prevention and screening initiatives with stakeholders and partners in the region.
- Consider the culturally sensitive needs of targeted communities in the planning of screening campaigns and educational events.
- Work closely with the Manager and Regional Clinical Leads (including but not limited to the Colorectal Screening/GI/Endoscopy, Primary Care, and Cervical Screening/Colposcopy Leads) to initiate and implement annual work plan deliverables.
- Support the Regional Clinical Leads with initiatives and deliverables, determined through collaboration with the RCP and OH-CCO. Responsibilities include holding regular meetings with the Regional Clinical Leads to review ongoing work related to these initiatives and deliverables, ensuring that information that is shared by OH-CCO is reviewed and that the appropriate stakeholders across the region receive the information in a timely manner.
- Support and lead projects for models of care and concurrent care initiatives as required by OH-CCO, as well as quality improvement projects for which project management, data analytics, and process improvement skills are an asset.
- Provide regular progress updates on initiatives and deliverables to the RCP leadership team and OH-CCO, as required.
- Assist with other program priority initiatives or projects in collaboration with leadership team, other program coordinators, regional clinical leads and regional partner sites as required.
- Plans for, interprets and analyzes relevant data to guide quality improvement initiatives.
- Assists with the development of grant proposals related to cancer screening and prevention.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare or related discipline as deemed appropriate by the Program
- Master’s Degree in a related field preferred;
- A minimum 2-3 years direct experience in a healthcare setting preferred;
- 3-5 years of direct work experience in project management and event coordination (project planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting);
- Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods;
- Experience working independently as well as in a team and effectively managing multiple priorities
- Previous experience with communications, writing/editing and/or graphic arts preferred;
- Previous experience working within cancer, or other health related programs preferred;
- A sound, analytical thinker with demonstrated understanding of community and hospital systems;
- Demonstrated ability and experience with program/process improvements and maintains a focus on performance driven outcomes;
- Demonstrated ability to interpret indicators while monitoring and reporting performance outcomes.
- Positive interpersonal skills and professionalism;
- Exemplary interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills;
- Excellent organizational and information/data management skills;
- Ability to lead and facilitate change;
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc);
- Design skills (Canva; Adobe and Photoshop or otherwise) are highly encouraged;
- Familiarity with Google Workplace is an asset;
- French Language proficiency an asset
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle required.
