We are a growing renovation company specializing primarily in residential projects, including basement renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, and full home renovations throughout the GTA. We also occasionally work on commercial interior projects.
We are looking for a designer who enjoys both design thinking and real-world project execution, and who wants to see their ideas become built projects.
Role Overview
This is a full-time role focused primarily on residential renovation projects, including kitchens, bathrooms, basements and full-home renovations.
We are looking for a designer who can take an active role in the design process — from understanding the client's needs and developing layouts and concepts, through material selection, visualization, revisions and coordination with our construction team.
This is not purely a rendering position. The designer should be comfortable working directly with clients, visiting project sites, developing practical design solutions and considering how designs will actually be built.
You will work closely with our sales and construction team to turn client ideas into clear, practical and buildable renovation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Client
- Meet with clients to understand their needs, style, priorities and project requirements
- Develop space plans, layouts and design concepts
- Prepare mood boards, material palettes and design presentations
- Produce 3D visualizations/renderings to communicate proposed designs
- Guide clients through material, finish, fixture and colour selections
- Present design ideas and explain recommendations directly to clients
- Revise designs based on client feedback, site conditions and project requirements
Project & Construction Coordination
- Conduct site visits and take/verify measurements when required
- Develop practical layouts for kitchens, bathrooms, basements and full-home renovations
- Coordinate design details with the construction/project team
- Identify design issues before construction whenever possible
- Assist with millwork, cabinetry and other detailed design coordination
- Maintain organized project drawings, selections and design documentation
- Support projects through construction when design clarification or revisions are required
Company Design Support
- Help maintain the company's material/sample library
- Develop reusable design standards, presentation templates and material combinations
- Occasionally assist with project photography or design-related marketing content
Qualifications
QualificationsRequired:
- 1+ years of professional experience in residential interior design, renovation, kitchen/millwork, or a design-build environment preferred.
- Strong interest in residential space planning, design concepts, and material selections
- Ability to understand client needs and translate them into practical design solutions
- Comfortable communicating and presenting design ideas to clients
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently from site information and client requirements rather than relying on detailed step-by-step design direction.
- Proficiency in at least one professional design/visualization workflow such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Coohom, Enscape, Twinmotion or similar software
- Fluent English communication skills
- A portfolio demonstrating actual residential design work is required.
Assets:
- Cantonese and/or Mandarin
- Experience with residential renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, or basement projects
- Experience with small commercial interior projects
- Familiarity with AI-assisted visualization workflows
- Basic understanding of residential construction methods and materials
Work Environment
- Full-time position
- Primarily based in Scarborough, Ontario, with site visits throughout the GTA
- Combination of office/studio work, client meetings and project site visits
- Work directly on active renovation projects from concept through construction
- Primarily English-speaking clients with a multilingual internal team
