Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-minded Forestry Operations Harvesting Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate has minimum 3 years’ experience in supervising mechanical harvesting, communicates effectively, and works well in a collaborative environment.
The ideal Candidate will possess the following qualifications and skill set:
· Commitment to excellence in safety and environmental management within industrial operations.
· Proven experience in mechanical and cable yarding harvesting operations. Hand-falling experience will be considered an asset.
· Ability to successfully Lead a Team.
· Strong problem-solving, planning and communication skills.
· Professional and accountable.
· General computer skills (Word, Excel, E-Timecards).
· Strong work ethic and leadership.
· Experience working with unionized operations would be an asset
· Small Vessel Operators Proficiency SVOP certification
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure customer requirements are met in all areas including safety, quality control and environment
- Ensure productivity targets are met
- Ensure operations are conducted to Company standards
- Execute on logging plans ensuring proper employee and equipment allocation.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in logging to ensure efficient transitions between phases
- Training, scheduling, motivating employees and administering discipline when required
- Troubleshooting and problem solving
- Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs when necessary
- Conduct safety meetings (Safety, crew, production, management)
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety regulations and conducting regular inspections.
