Reporting to the Chef at Caesar’s Steak House, the Line Cook contributes to all back of house operations and is responsible for a number of functions including but not limited to: preparation and execution of all menu items to Caesar’s specific recipe guidelines and standards, inventory control, receiving product, rotation of goods, ensuring all equipment is clean and maintained in working order. This position will lead to opportunities for advancement for the right person.
The role includes split shifts - lunch and dinner service. Shifts are Monday to Saturday. Closed Sundays.
This position is at our Downtown location.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of food preparations other than cooking, such as chopping ingredients, separating portions, weighing cuts, preparing foods, preparing desserts and making sauces and dressings.
- Organize, stock / store and maintain sufficient amount of cooking ingredients at line station to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Work on stove, oven, grill and/or plating stations during service
- Maintain sanitation, cleanliness and organization of station
- Efficient methods of pick-up/call back with the rest of kitchen team
- Build and maintain relationships with team members and front of house management alike
- Shows leadership in creating a culture that revolves around the experience and enjoyment of food and cooking
- Demonstrates high personal integrity and business ethics
- Trains culinary team in methods of cooking, preparation, plate presentation, portion and cost control
- Follows proper inventory and receiving procedures
- Demonstrates high personal integrity and business ethics
- Expected to fill in where needed at any time to execute efficient service periods
- Uses conflict/resolution and problem-solving skills
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Cook experience in a similar environment - fine dining
- Experience with trimming, cutting and grilling steaks is an asset
- Passion for food and customer service
- Effectively works on a line to achieve the highest standard of food production while managing costs
