Position Summary
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, including accurately picking and preparing customer orders, receiving and organizing inventory, maintaining a clean and safe warehouse, and assisting with inventory audits.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential to ensure customers receive the correct electrical products and materials on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Order Picking & Fulfillment
- • Accurately pick and prepare customer orders based on order documentation and system requirements.
- Verify product numbers, quantities, sizes, and other specifications before orders are released.
- Package, label, and stage orders for customer pickup or delivery.
- Assist with loading and unloading customer and delivery vehicles as required.
- Prioritize orders based on customer and operational requirements.
- Communicate shortages, discrepancies, damaged products, or other order issues promptly.
- Receiving & Inventory
- • Receive incoming shipments and verify products and quantities against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Inspect incoming products for damage or discrepancies.
- Accurately put away and organize inventory in designated warehouse locations.
- Assist with regular cycle counts, inventory audits, and annual inventory counts.
- Investigate and report inventory discrepancies.
- Help maintain accurate inventory records and product locations.
- Identify slow-moving, damaged, or incorrectly stored inventory and report concerns to management.
- Warehouse Organization & Maintenance
- • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
- Ensure products, including electrical supplies, wire, conduit, fixtures, and other materials, are stored safely and in their designated locations.
- Keep aisles, work areas, loading areas, and emergency exits clear and accessible.
- Maintain appropriate organization and labeling of warehouse shelves and inventory locations.
- Assist with reorganizing warehouse space to improve efficiency and accessibility.
- Ensure garbage, packaging materials, pallets, and other debris are removed from work areas.
- Health & Safety
- • Follow all Company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, and other material-handling equipment, where trained and authorized.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow safe lifting and material-handling practices.
- Promptly report hazards, damaged equipment, incidents, injuries, and near misses to management.
- Participate in required health and safety training, inspections, and workplace initiatives.
- Customer & Operational Support
- • Work collaboratively with counter sales, purchasing, delivery drivers, and other team members to ensure orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with general warehouse and branch operations as needed.
- Maintain a professional and service-oriented approach when interacting with customers, suppliers, and coworkers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous warehouse, shipping/receiving, electrical wholesale, or distribution experience is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of electrical products and materials is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to order accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable using computers, inventory systems, scanners, and other warehouse technology.
- Forklift certification or previous forklift experience is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's licence may be required depending on operational responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
- Safely lift and move products and materials consistent with the physical requirements of the position.
- Work in a warehouse environment and safely handle a variety of electrical products and materials.
- Use ladders, carts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment where required and appropriately trained.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm.
- Work is performed in an electrical wholesale branch environment, including customer service and warehouse areas.
- Due to warehouse structure, you may experience more heat exposure in the summer months
