Effective management of Technical Performance and Quality Processes to ensure product performance, product cost management and customer satisfaction. Develop and maintain technical expertise & knowledge of products within the organization.
Safety: In this role, the selected candidate will be involved with the implementation of Lafarge safety policies and compliance with government legislation, as well as with training and orientation of all direct and departmental staff, with a specific focus on behaviors and culture. This employee will also be required to complete Job Hazard Analyses’ for QC job functions and will be involved in the development and implementation of safety improvement plans.
Human Resources: This role will require the selected employee to develop, implement and deliver product performance training programs for sales and operations staff.
Concrete and Aggregates Product Performance & Optimization: This role will require the implementation of a standard mix design methodology and management system which is in compliance with relevant codes, standards and specifications. The selected employee may also be required to manage the QC database and implement (EONE) item uploads, including the required GL and sales category codes for pricing, production/shipping and BI/KPI reporting. This position will require the employee to develop and standardize tools, processes and reports for accurate batching and quality. In addition, the employee may be required to prepare statistical analyses of plant operation performance and support investigative efforts to identify root causes of performance issues and implement corrective actions. Monitoring, reporting and communicating RMX and Aggregates KPI performance with key stakeholders may also be required, as may be the need to investigate variances from original plans and establishing corrective actions. The selected candidate will be required to support synergies between aggregate and concrete for long product utilization, blended sand products, Aggneo, etc. for use at RMX plants and may also be required to participate in the process of developing annual production target guidelines to maximize production efficiency and reduce waste production (long product). In addition, the candidate may be required to support and develop cement utilization strategies for RMX. Finally, the selected candidate will support the process to identify and develop optimization and performance testing programs to direct to the regional lab in support of Area QC Managers.
Contract Review: This candidate is required to review contracts in conjunction with QC managers, product managers and sales managers. The candidate will review all large project specifications and will be in direct contact with the local QC and sales teams. The candidate will recommend appropriate mix designs, propose VAP alternatives and appropriate aggregate products in support of marketing/sales initiatives. In addition, the candidate will prepare and submit mix design documentation as requested by customers and in accordance with Lafarge Policy. Lastly, the candidate will support technical programs (testing programs, engineering studies) at the regional lab which are required to support projects either before the quoting and bidding process and/or while the project is active.
Technical Support: The selected candidate will develop, standardize and implement quality plans and processes. He/she will also perform plant quality audits and develop action plans for quality improvement and monitor the progress of action plan implementation. The candidate will provide expert customer support to both our internal & external customers including; specification activities with VAP rep.’s, field sales support and quality incident investigation and resolution with sales and QC teams, as well as identifying VAP opportunities and potential innovation and product improvement opportunities for customers and job sites. The candidate will assist in developing quality and product best practices for QC, sales and operations and will support programs with both field and regional labs to benchmark Lafarge material performance vs. competitors to effectively market our products.
Financial Accountability: The successful candidate may be required to participate in the preparation of the annual budget and monthly review process and may also be required to implement and track quality incidents and cost of poor quality material.
Relationship with Others
The successful candidate will work directly for the Technical Performance Manager, however, he/she will also work indirectly for the ECAN RMX QC Managers. Significant liaison with ECAN Operational, Sales & VAP staff will be required as will liaison with the Technical Performance Specialist & Business Intelligence Analyst.

This candidate will report directly to the ECAN Technical Performance Manager and will have no direct reports. He/she will be part of a department that is responsible for the quality of approximately 3,000,000m3 of ready mix concrete.
University Degree in Engineering preferred with 2 years related experience, P. Eng.
Minimum 3 year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with 5 years of related experience, CET Designation
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent people management skills; ability to develop effective internal and external relations
Disciplined and process-oriented
Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn and use new software
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
