Overview
Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant to work with our two Radiologists. We value our support staff and highlight our VTAs as being integral. They help restrain, set up and operate equipment, coordinate schedules/appointments and more. This position is unique with a focus on imaging and procedures. Coastal Care prides itself on using Fear Free techniques and low stress handling whenever possible.

Technical abilities and skills:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with multiple specialty departments
- Solid foundation of veterinary medicine in general, with special interest in imaging
- Strong desire to provide the highest level of detail and correct positioning
- Driven to continually improve and evolve through CE, mentorship, and on the job training
- Thrives in high-demand settings with a proactive and dependable approach
- Eager to assist with multi department, shared cases
- Setting up, assisting during and cleaning up after procedures
- Comfort operating multiple different softwares (Instinct, IDEXX, Asteris, VetRocket etc), cloud based medical records and troubleshooting IT issues
- Working knowledge of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for storage of all Diagnostic Imaging Studies
- Proficiency with safe patient handling techniques of canine, feline and exotic animal patients with and without sedatives, proper patient placement for diagnostic exams and procedures, IVC placement
- Safely lift and handle large dogs
- Professional comportment and proficient medical charting
Requirements:
- Preference for Graduate from a Veterinary Assistant program
- Preference of minimum 2-3 years in clinical setting.
- Prior experience working within an Specialty/Referral Hospital an asset
- Able to perform moderately physically demanding work that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion

Experience:
- veterinary assistant: 2 years (preferred)
