Major Responsibilities

Do you have a strong technical background and considerable experience supporting the implementation of a new Enterprise Work Management System? Do you have excellent stakeholder management and proven analytical skills to map out business processes from start to finish? If so, consider this exciting capital-funded opportunity with Transportation Services, where you will be an integral team member supporting the implementation of Maximo, a large Enterprise Work Management System.

The Business Analyst will be part of a larger team implementing Work and Asset Management solutions for the Transportation Services Division. The successful candidates will be responsible for the analysis of business processes and procedures supporting Maximo work management, integration points with other systems, and contributing analytical support for the project.

The Business Analyst:
Implements detailed plans and recommends procedures regarding project-specific requirements.
Identifies, analyzes, optimizes and documents business processes, inputs, outputs, and integration points and conducts workflow analysis and business process modelling.
Executes the above by collaborating with key business stakeholders.
Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, and decomposes high-level information into detailed needs and requirements.
Identifies problem areas and inefficiencies, determines the root of business problems and offers recommendations for improvement.
Designs, analyzes and documents processes to support planning, staff re-alignment and management decision-making.
Contributes to multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Conducts process flow analysis and business process modelling, re-engineering and/or continuous improvement efforts and reviews the potential impact with staff at all levels of the organization.
Prepares, or contributes to the preparation of, business cases, feasibility (including economic, organizational, operational, technical impact) studies, project charters/plans, business requirements, procedures, work instructions, manuals, design documents, user documentation and records management best practices.
Recommends and establishes program objectives, priorities and schedules.
Prepares reports for the Project Manager and Senior Management, making recommendations on changes in business methods and processes, including appropriate staffing levels and resource allocation.
Conducts financial analysis and determines key indicators to measure the effectiveness and efficiencies of service delivery methods and design processes to track those indicators.
Prepares training materials and trains users.

Key Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function such as Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Engineering, Statistics, or Business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Considerable experience supporting the development and/or implementation of a new Enterprise Work Management System (e.g. Maximo) in a large organization.
Extensive experience in developing, evaluating, mapping and documenting business processes/workflow and procedures, including data analysis and use of mapping software (e.g. Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) standard, Visio Pro 2013 or Blueprint).
Considerable experience working within the project management environment, including related project governance, planning, delivery and methodologies.
Considerable experience in facilitating sessions with stakeholders to identify current/optimal processes and business/technical requirements.
Considerable experience using a variety of software packages, including MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint), process design software (e.g. Visio) and project management software (e.g. MS Project).
Solid understanding of the System Development Life Cycle and systems development methodologies.
Ability to design and perform data analysis on both qualitative and quantitative initiatives using relevant methodologies and related software applications.
A team player with excellent written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
Ability to develop requirements or implement GIS (Geographic Information System), mobile technologies and incorporate spatial data, contract management, cost recovery, service requests and work orders into a new work management system.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects, work with cross-functional teams, set clear directions and design terms of reference and project plans.
