Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Maintenance
- Operate the following equipment: steamer, loader, sweeper and backhoe as
required by the Director of Public Works.
- Perform manual labour for road repairs, sidewalk construction, landscaping, and
other public works projects.
- Operate light and medium-duty equipment such as mowers, weed trimmers,
small tractors, and power tools.
- Assist with snow removal, sanding, street sweeping, mowing, and other seasonal
operations.
- Support water and wastewater system maintenance.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment as required.
Parks & Grounds
- Maintain public green spaces, sports fields, playgrounds, and municipal
landscaping.
- Plant, water, fertilize, and prune trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Empty waste receptacles and maintain cleanliness in public areas.
- Maintain, operate and perform excavations at the municipal cemetery.

Safety & Compliance
- Follow all workplace safety regulations, Village policies, and operational
procedures.
- Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report hazards, damages, or safety concerns promptly to a supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Works or designate.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience
- Experience in construction, landscaping, or equipment operation preferred but
not required.
- Willingness to learn and work in various municipal service areas.
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence (with clean Driver’s Abstract). Class 3 with Air
Brake Endorsement is an asset.
- Criminal Record Check may be required.
- Ground Disturbance, and other safety training considered an asset.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and safe equipment operation skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and potentially hazardous materials.
- Regular lifting, bending, climbing, and prolonged periods of standing or walking.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Participation in the on-call rotation may be required, particularly during winter
operations or emergency events.
- May require overtime, on-call, and shift work during emergencies or seasonal
operations.
Pay: From $32.16 per hour
