Responsibilities
- Assist with drafting, reviewing, and proofreading estate documents such as wills, powers of attorney, and estate transfer forms using precise legal language.
- Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and case law related to estate planning and probate procedures utilizing tools like LexisNexis.
- Manage case files efficiently within document management systems such as iManage, ensuring all records are up-to-date and properly organized.
- Support project management efforts by coordinating deadlines, scheduling meetings, and tracking progress on estate files from inception to completion.
- Perform data entry and clerical tasks including filing, scanning, and maintaining accurate client records in compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Conduct client interviews via phone or in person to gather necessary information for estate documentation while demonstrating professional phone etiquette.
- Proofread all legal documents meticulously to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to legal standards before submission or filing.
Skills
- Strong proofreading abilities with keen attention to detail for error-free legal documentation.
- Proficiency with LexisNexis or similar legal research platforms for comprehensive case law and statutory research.
- Excellent organizational skills capable of managing multiple cases simultaneously with efficiency.
- Experience with project management tools or techniques to coordinate tasks effectively across teams.
- Effective interviewing skills combined with professional phone etiquette for client communication.
- Familiarity with iManage document management system or similar platforms for filing and data organization.
- Solid administrative experience including data entry, filing, clerical support, and record keeping in a legal setting.
- Strong writing skills for drafting clear, concise legal correspondence and documents related to wills and estates.
- Knowledge of legal drafting standards specific to estate planning documents.
