Canvas Legal LLP is a dynamic new firm focusing on corporate/commercial law, real estate, family law, and wills and estates. We are currently seeking a Conveyancer with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in conveyancing to support our growing practice. Your role will primarily include conveyancing and general file and office administration tasks.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is extremely organized, detail oriented and able to handle a busy desk with shifting priorities. S/he/they will be committed to our mission of delivering an outstanding level of service to our clients and will provide essential support to our lawyers, contributing to the efficient operation of our office.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Preparing and managing conveyancing documents, including land titles documents, mortgage documents, condo documents and estoppels, trust letters and other closing documentation
- Requesting, organizing and assembling due diligence searches
- Registering LTO, PPSA and other documents as required
- Liaising with lawyers and clients on file progress
- Maintaining and organizing legal files and documents, both in physical and electronic formats
- Handling the receipt and disbursement of trust funds
- General office support tasks such as answering phones, handling incoming and outgoing mail, and scheduling meetings
Key Qualifications and Education:
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate from an accredited Alberta legal assistant or paralegal program (successful career history in a conveyancing/ legal assistant role will be considered in lieu)
- 3+ years experience in conveyancing is essential
- Working knowledge of real estate and lending documentation
- Familiarity with all lending institutions, including B-Lenders
- Experience in corporate/commercial, family, and civil litigation would be an asset
- Strong technical skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks and competing priorities and to adapt to changing demands
- Client centered approach with a commitment to providing outstanding service
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to strict deadlines
- Exercise sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality
- Experience with Cosmolex will be considered an asset
