Full Time Maintenance Aide

Core Responsibilities & Administrative Duties
Human Resource Management
- Complete all required department training, including The Learning Centre courses.
- Understand and adhere to policies in the Westview Lodge/ Rocky Senior Housing Council HR Policy Manual.
- Conducts self in an appropriate manner while carrying out duties while representing the company.
Quality Control, Health & Safety
- Ensure safe work practices and procedures are always adhered to (OH&S, WCB standards).
- Wear proper PPE as required.
- Adhere to and uphold Government standards for Lodge Accommodation Standards (LAS).
- Ensure site environment is conducive to seniors.
- Document safety concerns or repairs required.
- Assist with fire and safety inspections if required.
Planning, Monitoring & Operations
- Organize daily duties for efficient service.
- Complete position requirements and demonstrate an understanding of daily shift requirements.
- Ensure chemicals are properly used, labeled, and stored according to MSDS and WHMIS standards.
- Contribute to resident/ maintenance logbooks to accurately reflect daily activities.
Inventory Management
- Monitor tools/supplies as applicable and assist in keeping maintenance shop/work areas organized and tidy.
- Restock supplies and document products as needed.
Specific Job Duties
- Assist with all responsibilities in maintaining Westview Lodge/ Rocky Senior Housing Council buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- During winter months, assist in snow removal and sanding of walkways around the various facilities.
- During summer months, assist in landscaping including grass mowing, trimming and flower bed/ tree maintenance.
- Perform general building maintenance and minor repairs as required.
- Operate vehicles and equipment necessary to perform grounds maintenance.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with staff, residents, and the general public.
- Assist with completing special projects, as designated by the Maintenance Supervisor/ Manager / CAO.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
Certifications & Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
- WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR training (or considered an asset).
- Bondable.
Experience & Technical Skills
- Related industry experience is an asset (i.e., Trade Certification).
- Experience with minor plumbing/electrical issues and repairs.
- Ability to maintain a preventative maintenance program for all mechanical and life safety systems (e.g., boilers, furnaces, HVAC ventilation systems, exit lights, fire panels, cable systems, Building System Programs).
- Computer literacy.
Physical & Operational Capability
- Ability to safely operate maintenance vehicles, light mowing equipment, power trimmers, power and hand tools, and snow removal equipment.
- Good physical condition involving lifting, prolonged bending, crouching, kneeling, and occasional climbing.
- Ability to lift 60 lbs regularly.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and supply appropriate clothing for the job.

Pay: $28.44 per hour
