Job Description:
Carpe Diem Therapeutic Foster homes are seeking Part time Child and Youth workers to support Children and Youth with complex mental health challenges. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing support and care to individuals on a day-to-day basis.
Responsibilities:
Provide care and support for the young person including but not limited to:
o Daily care and support in the home and in the community
o Implementing developmentally appropriate programming and activities in the home and the community
o Supporting life skills development i.e., chores, money management, grocery shopping, meals
o Preparing and cooking meals according to meal plan that adheres to the Canadian Food Guide
o Crisis and behavior management in the home and community
o Daily medication administration and record keeping
o Attending all necessary appointments i.e., doctors’ appointments, plan of care meetings, CAS meetings
o Completing daily end of shift reports
o Completing incident reports, when necessary
o Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
Qualifications:
o Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, or related field
o Minimum of one year’s experience working with children and youth in a residential or community setting.
o Knowledge of child development and behavior management techniques
o Ability work independently and as part of a team
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
o Strong report writing skills.
o Valid G License
o Valid Broad Record Police Check and Child Welfare Check
