Overview
We are seeking a motivated Automotive Service Technician Apprentice to join our dealership team. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in automotive repair and maintenance, providing a valuable foundation for a career as a professional mechanic. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and an interest in automotive technology. This paid apprenticeship provides comprehensive training under the supervision of experienced technicians, with opportunities to develop skills in various automotive systems and repair techniques.
Duties
- Assist senior technicians with diagnosing and repairing vehicles using hand tools, power tools, and schematics
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
- Learn to interpret technical manuals and schematics for vehicle systems
- Support the disassembly and assembly of vehicle components during repairs
- Conduct inspections to identify mechanical issues and document findings
- Use welding equipment when necessary for repairs or modifications
- Assist with vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting using specialized equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety standards
- Support heavy lifting tasks as required during parts replacement or assembly processes
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with customers about repair needs and status
Requirements
- Prior dealership experience or mechanic experience is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential
- Basic mechanical knowledge and familiarity with automotive repair procedures
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, welding, and schematics is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work effectively as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or coursework related to automotive technology is preferred
